We helped raise over £4000 for the Alzheimer's Society as part of our 20th Birthday celebrationsWednesday, 30 May 2018
A few months back when I started planning for our 20th Birthday celebrations. I had an idea of things I wanted to do to celebrate. I since sent numerous emails thanking and reminding everyone for their continued support.
In Week 1 of our month long celebrations I had asked all our Franchisee's, Managers and staff members to gather, review and catalogue some stories, pictures and get some recent testimonials from both past and present customers. I asked everyone to Interview some of our very first or longest standing clients, residents and managers etc... so we could share these between ourselves and potentially on our social media platforms, GDPR allowing.
I created a 'Legacy Piece' that was sent out by letter and/or email, shared on social media etc... showcasing and highlighting our company history and celebrating where we have been.
I have been sharing our story on our website and linking to social media too.
In Week 2, I asked: "To celebrate our 20th birthday, I will be giving away/donating 20 'prizes'. If you have homes that you would like to nominate, please put them forward. Throughout the weeks, I will be promoting this for homes to come forward. Please send in your nominations asap so I can plan these and also send these to you for you to deliver and present, photograph and document."
In Week 3- "I would like to organise a 'Bake your own 'Birthday' cake competition'. Again this is for you, your staff and the homes to all get involved in. Please send in pictures of your Birthday Cake entries. If you can organise a cake baking day within one of your homes to include the residents and A/O that would be fantastic. I will be asking a local home, if I can come in and volunteer and asking for cake bakers too."
This coincided with the 'Royal Wedding' brilliantly and we had loads of gorgeous wedding cake creations sent in too.
"Organise a coffee morning with a home or in your local community, to share and eat your creations."
"Pictures of you sharing your creations with your friends, families and residents to be sent in please."
Howard Middleton from the Great British Bake off, made some delicious Carrot, Orange and Pineapple cupcakes with a Lemon Frosting and we were joined by local Selby Council Chairman David Buckle to share them with. David also helped me sell out our raffle stall at the fundraising event. He was brilliantly proactive and hands on.
We contacted a local elderly visiting scheme, that brings independent individuals together to alleviate loneliness and to encourage friendships within the community. We joined them on one of their coffee mornings and delivered a Motivation & Co session and helped make many Tea's and Coffee's not to mention help eat lots of yummy biscuits. It was a fabulous morning and one we said we would definitely make a regular visit.
In Week 4- "In our final week of celebrations we will be connecting and making a donation to a non-profit organisation that we care about. I was thinking either the Alzheimer Society or if you have any local ones that are close your heart, please send in your nominations."
We joined forces with some other amazing small business' and local community teams and had an amazing day raising a fabulous £4,000 raised for the Alzheimer Society.
It is amazing what can be achieved with some community support and the help and collaboration of a few small local business'.
The weather was glorious and the cakes, food and prizes were well received. Everyone was in brilliant spirits.
Fabulous effort from all, you should all be extremely proud. Well done everyone.
