National Award Winners now have an OscarTuesday, 21 November 2017
If you weren't already aware Motivation & Co. won the 2017 Care Innovator Award at National Great British Care Awards. The purpose of the awards are to pay tribute to those individuals who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work.
Which represent all areas of the social care sector, whether it be older people or specialist services, residential or home care. From frontline staff such as care workers and care managers to people who have made an impact in other ways such as training and innovation.
The awards are all inclusive, bringing together the statutory, independent and voluntary sectors, aswell as unpaid carers; promoting joint working. Working in partnership with care partners and local care associations is at the heart of the initiative; working and linking directly with local managers and networks to further promote the event.
Not only did we win this prestigious award, but we've also won ourselves an Oscar?!!
Won ourselves over, I should say... with Oscar the Dog.
We have taken Oscar on as our Motivation & Co. company mascot. He is Alison Hadleys beloved pet therapy dog. Bringer of love and laughter, cuddles and smiles, Oscar is the perfect fuzzy companion. Pet therapy builds on the pre-existing human-animal bond. Interacting with a friendly pet can help many physical and mental issues. It can help reduce blood pressure and improve overall cardiovascular health. It can also release endorphins that produce a calming effect. Dogs in particular can reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, ease loneliness, encourage exercise and playfulness, and even improve your cardiovascular health.
A few words from Oscar:
"My name is Oscar, I am a Tibetan Terrier and a Dog Therapist I have a great temperament and character, and I interact with residents including those who do not usually communicate.
I love attending the Motivation & Co. sessions with my Human, Alison. She is very kind and sometimes lets me have all the attention and praise without the distraction of the Motivation & Co. session taking place. Alison manages my diary though, so if you would like to book in a visit from me you would have to speak with her... as I am just a dog, and can't speak or drive.
I love seeing everyone's smiling faces light up when I enter the room and the cuddles and warmth from everyone I meet.
I look forward to seeing you all soon.
