2019 Soooo... What's been happening?Thursday, 7 November 2019
We started the year developing a new project that would allow us to deliver a Motivation & Co. session into a number of homes through a portal on your smart TV. Interacting with a group of homes at once, allowing your residents to communicate with other homes during the sessions.
Our results show that this method of delivery enhances the engagement and interaction between the LIVE LEADER, (who would be a trained designated member of your staff) and the residents.
The residents loved the fact that they could see and speak to the Motivation & Co. Presenter. And engage with other homes ‘through the television’ that were also taking part in the session. The Live Leader felt that the Live session made them feel a part of a team with the two-way interaction & communication.
We upgraded our office systems and telephone services, to ensure we can track and cater for the amount of calls and enquiries we receive, between the 4 team members we have based in our head office, the majority of which work part time around their young families. Although we are a 20+ year old business, we are still very much family run. Our office consists of a close knit team of Mother, Daughter, Sister in Law and close friends. We pride ourselves, that our staff, delivering the Motivation & Co. service around the country, are well looked after, safe and happy within their role. We keep in regular contact and all meet up as much as possible, to ensure they all know we are a team together.
This year, we have trained up 9 new Motivational Therapists, going through our training procedures either as 1:1 or in small groups. Growing their confidence and meeting your residents. The majority of our Motivational Therapists don't come from 'care' backgrounds. They each have their own individual personalities and will deliver their sessions completely differently. We are very lucky to have such a kindhearted and generous team. We have also redefined roles throughout our office as well as nationwide, as we have seen some long term staff members leave for pastures new and existing team members change their working days and hours to suit their family lives. We have also invested further in our staff's well-being and mental health, upgrading our HR and staff perks to include 24 hour Medical assistance helpline and access to a team of counsellors including private in person sessions.
The Alzheimer Society Duck race, that we have sponsored for the past 2 years, unfortunately got cancelled this year, due to flooding and bad weather. This is being put off until next year, where we hope to help raise a record amount. In previous years we have helped raise over £4000 in this event alone.
In the mean time however, our awesome Head Office team have been taking it upon themselves to raise other funds for charity. Zoe and her 10 year old Son, Harry, ran the Superhero Kapow! obstacle challenge in Leeds, to raise money for the Alzheimer Society. Terri, and her 5 year old daughter, Hallie ran the 5k Tough Mudder charity event, raising money for Cancer Research. Emma, has been taking her friendly Shetland pony, 'Pudding' into our local Martin House Hospice, spreading lots of smiles and cheer. Emma teams up with the 'Homeless Street Angels' around Leeds, running her own charity called 'Donate a Dog Coat' this provides dog coats and food for the dogs of the homeless, around Leeds and Elaine will once again be volunteering and helping organise the local 'OAP Christmas lunch', for those that perhaps live on their own and may not spend Christmas with close friends or family, to help alleviate loneliness at this time of year.
Looking forward in to next year, we have confirmed our booking at the Dementia, Care and Nursing Home Expo show in Birmingham. On the 17th and 18th March 2020. We look forward to seeing you all there. Please come along and say hello, we'll be at stand D681.
We will also be looking to build on our existing areas, including Hull, Reading, Cambridge and Manchester. So next year, already looks to see plenty of growth and business. As always we'd love your support and are always up for a coffee and chat if you're about. Sometimes, we bring our own biscuits!
We have started using a different supplier for our Menu Boards, Staff boards etc... we are now able to offer these framed, unframed and are using a different material for perspex holders and inserts, to offer better durability. We still offer these as bespoke products but with more choice to the customer. Take a look at our website for more information on our products, through our sister company Visual Communication Aid.
